FleetCrew Celebrates a Decade of Supporting Iconic Film and TV Productions

This October marks a significant milestone for FleetCrew, celebrating 10 years since our first booking in the film and TV production industry. We dove straight into the deep end, supplying 4WD hire vehicles for the BBC’s Top Gear, the most widely watched factual TV program in the world.

For the three-week shoot of the Top Gear Australia episode in the Northern Territory, which aired in early 2015, FleetCrew provided three Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series GXL Wagons. Executive Director and Co-founder Ben Harris shared, “During and after the shoot, several producers informed me that the vehicles supplied by FleetCrew were the best support hire vehicles they had ever used. It was incredibly gratifying to hear this from such an experienced and well-travelled film crew. Being selected to work with such an iconic international brand was truly exciting.”

Over the past decade, FleetCrew has partnered with some of Australia’s leading TV production companies. When Endemol Shine Australia decided to relocate Australian Survivor from the Pacific Islands to the Queensland Outback, FleetCrew was ideally positioned to provide support hire vehicles for the show.

“Our expertise in supplying mine-spec light hire vehicles for mining and exploration across Australia’s eastern states allows us to dispatch purpose-built, reliable 4WD hire vehicles from our branches across Queensland,” said Mary-Ann Strelow, Executive Director and Co-founder of FleetCrew.

“Our Mount Isa branch was conveniently located close to where they were shooting. We were very excited to be able to hire vehicles to the production team,” she added.

FleetCrew has also been a regular supplier for 7mate’s reality TV shows Outback Truckers and Outback Crystal Hunters, with production crews travel vast distances across Queensland to document these extreme professions.

However, our hire vehicles are not just limited to servicing the outback. Nine’s hit Logie-winning lifestyle show, Travel Guides, chose FleetCrew to supply beach-ready recreational SUVs for an episode exploring the Sunshine Coast.

The Guides used LandCruiser Prados to embark on a four-wheel driving adventure on K’gari (formerly Fraser Island). With basic four-wheel drive safety training, they enjoyed the exhilarating experience of driving on the World Heritage-listed paradise, with sisters Stack and Mel tackling one of the island’s more challenging passages.
